Why Personal Finance Matters

Welcome to the Diploma on Bitcoin and Modern Finance. This course is not only about Bitcoin, nor is it only about personal finance. It is about how to understand the financial world you live in and how to make better decisions for your future. Whether your dream is to travel, start a business, help your family, save for education, or simply feel more secure, money will play an important role. Throughout this diploma, you will follow two characters, Sofia and Carlos, as they move through the same ten modules you are studying. They live in El Salvador, they use dollars day to day, and they face the same kinds of tradeoffs that show up in real life: spending pressure, emergencies, family needs, income limits, and the temptation to look for shortcuts. Sofia tends to move slowly, build structure, and protect her future. Carlos tends to move fast, chase excitement, and learn the hard way. Neither one is the hero and neither one is the villain. They are mirrors of two common paths.
