Public transportation in English-speaking countries uses specific vocabulary that can trip up learners. A 'single' is a one-way ticket, a 'return' is a round-trip ticket, and 'peak hours' are the busy commuting times when tickets cost more. Announcements on trains and buses move fast, so knowing the key phrases in advance — 'mind the gap,' 'this train terminates at...' — makes a huge difference.
