Expressing Opinions & Disagreeing Politely
Disagreeing politely is one of the most valuable conversation skills you can develop. In English, the key is to acknowledge the other person's point before presenting your own. This is called the 'yes, but' technique — though 'however' and 'that said' sound more natural than 'but.' Another powerful approach is to ask questions instead of making direct statements: 'Have you considered...?' plants doubt without confrontation.
