The Future of Bitcoin
Bitcoin's main blockchain has a speed limit: it can process only about 7 transactions per second. For comparison, Visa handles roughly 65,000 transactions per second. If Bitcoin is going to become a global payment system used by billions of people, it needs to be much faster. But increasing the blockchain's speed directly would compromise its security and decentralization. The solution? Build a second layer on top of the main blockchain.
