Mining & Security
One of Bitcoin's most important features is its predictable, shrinking supply schedule. When Bitcoin launched in 2009, every miner who successfully added a block received 50 BTC as a reward. But Satoshi Nakamoto built in a rule: every 210,000 blocks (approximately every four years), this reward is cut exactly in half. This event is called the halving, and it is one of the most anticipated events in the Bitcoin world.
